Imaginal Mindfulness

James Hillman pointed out that "there is a Western imaginal history, a tradition of imaginal images which act on our souls and originate in the greek myth, which is less specifically a religion and more generally a psychology”.
When a western individual approaches to meditation his imaginal tradition accompanies him and he must take it into account. The imaginal vision helps to make the experience of meditation more enjoyable for Westerners and simultaneously it serves as support during the journey of personal growth.
This book not only explains the fundamentals of the meditation process, it also provides daily practices for the achievement of important positive changes in the way of living and thinking.

Silvia Turrin, a student of Selene Calloni Williams, patiently transcribed his lectures on Imaginal Mindfulness making possible a comprehensive and clear guidance. Selene Calloni Williams has enriched the book with the story of her experience in the hermitage of the forest and with an extensive  dissertation about the method and the imaginal vision applied to meditation.

Today it is quite remarkable the number of those who practice, disseminate, teach Imaginal Mindfulness. This is to the authors of this book a great incentive to move forward and spread what has given a lot to them and that can help to "heal" many lives.
The practice of Imaginal Mindfulness dissolves the fear, which is the greatest enemy of self-realization. It can be successfully applied both in private contexts and organizations, to improve the quality of life, work, relationships.
"The dhamma (the "right way") is love at the beginning, love in the middle and love at the end." (From Discourses of the Buddha, Dantabhūmi-Sutta - Majjhima-Nikāya No. 125).

The Mindfulness practice was born in the United States from the union of Buddhist meditation, the knowledge of shamanic yoga and the imaginal vision, typical of James Hillmans approach of depth psychology.

It is an effective practice to bring energy to oneself and to awaken the true nature of every sentient being.

As confirmed by numerous clinical studies, particularly in the US, Canada and Switzerland, Mindfulness is an important tool for stress management as well as for the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression.

With this book, the Authors intend to bring mindfulness back to its true nature, to its origins, while adopting the symbol-imaginal approach typical of the School founded by Selene Calloni Williams.

Through a series of exercises and valuable advice, the reader is lead into a inner dimension deeply connected to nature, through an approach focused on the imaginative power, as the so-called reality is seen as a symbolic dimension.

A practical guide for all those who are involved or want to get involved in this profound journey.
The number of those who practice, disseminate and teach Imaginal Mindfulness keeps increasing.
There are countless scientific confirmations in support of the argument that the practice of Mindfulness is able to give great psychological and physical benefits.
